Star Steward- Ministry of Music
Star was born number nine in a family of
fourteen as Estrella de Belen Escoto. She graduated with
an Elementary Degree and taught in Mt. Morris and Clarkston for
thirty years. She has been a church organist and pianist
for forty years and is a cellist for the Rochester Symphony and
Birmingham Musicale String Orchestra. Presently Star is
the Bell Choir Director and pianist/organist for the church.
She is active in supporting Mission Mazahua which is near much
of her Mexican family. She lives in Waterford with her
husband Jay.
Sherri Jo Brown - Music
Ministry
Sherri Jo came to us in February of
2005 as our Adult Choir Director/Organist. She has an extensive background
in music ministry having begun in sixth grade as pianist for her church's
junior choir. She graduated from Western Michigan University in 1979 with a
Bachelor of Music Education degree emphasizing piano and organ and has done
further studies at Madonna University. She continued her music ministry as
assistant organist at Nativity Church, moving to St. Andrew's as assistant
organist, junior choir and bell choir director and came here from her organist
duties at St. Luke's Chapel. She actively supports the Boy Scouts of America
as an Assistant Scoutmaster and Merit Badge Counselor. She currently resides
in Waterford with her sons, Daniel and Christopher Schlegel.
Pam and Tim Andrews - Youth Ministry
Tim and Pam Andrews have been members of the First
Congregational
Church of Clarkston since 1998. They began as volunteers
within the
DreamKeepers youth group when their son was a member. In
2004 they
officially became the youth directors. Tim and Pam enjoy
working with a
wide range of students ages sixth through twelfth grade, as well
as the young
adult-college age students.
Tim and Pam have five children who are in various stages of
adulthood. So,
having the opportunity to spend time with the youth is very
therapeutic for both
of them. They look forward to the weekly meetings and
array of activities
within the youth group. Pam has a background in Early
Childhood Education
and Human Resources with an emphasis on "the family". Tim
works in
computer aid design. He has a passion for music and
multi-media technology.
Darlene Hatherley - Administrative
Assistant Dar, as she likes to be referred to, spent 5 months in between jobs before coming
to the church. Due to some health issues with her husband,
and needing a change of pace, she decided to seek a new area of employment.
She had been the assistant to a real estate broker for 12 years, and had obtained
her real estate license to be more efficient in her office. Upon deciding to
go back to work, she had several job offers on her plate, but chose the church
for a totally new direction. She lives in Oxford, and has 3 grown children
and two grandsons. Dar and her husband, Bob, enjoy traveling as much as possible
when they can escape their busy lives.
Sandy Snyder - Accountant
Sandy has many friends at the church that knew she could fill
in when a new accountant was needed. Sandy graduated from
Walsh college, is married and has 2 sons in elementary school.
She does the books for her husbands electrical company,
Electrical Enterprises, Inc. and worked in a CPA firm for 10
years. She lives in Clarkston and has a continuous
schedule of running her boys from sporting events to cub scouts
to music lessons. She is a very busy lady, but we are
lucky to have her here with us!
Kathleen
Taylor - Housekeeper
Kathleen is a member of First Congregational Church and has
been since 1998. She is a retired paralegal and volunteers
at the Clarkston Lighthouse every Tuesday, as a crisis
counselor. She is also a volunteer for the American Cancer
Association and is an advocacy chair for ACSCAN. She has 2
children and 2 grandchildren. She has been doing the
housekeeping on and off since 1998 and enjoys working with all
the staff members.
Tom Buckheim - Custodial/Maintenance Man
Tom is a retired postal worker from the city of Royal Oak.
Tom is the kind of guy who enjoys staying busy and tinkering
with just about any project. Living on a lake in
Oxford is fun, but just didn't seem to keep Tom busy enough.
Working here at the church seems to fill Tom's empty time he
has on his hands. He loves being a jokester
while at work. Tom has truly become part of the First
Congregational Church family.
