| "Know that the Lord is God!
Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise.
Give thanks to Him, bless His name! For the Lord is
good; His steadfast love endures forever and His faithfulness
to all generations."
Psalm 100, portions
The worship of God is
the most important calling of the people of faith! Although
there are many aspects of being a Christian in community,
worship is central. As a Christian people,
we discover who we are in relationship to God as well as learning
to identify the vision, inspiration and strength for our God-commissioned
ministry.
Jesus said that we must
first "love the Lord your God" (Matthew 22:37) and
secondly He said we must "love
our neighbor" (Matthew 22:39). We gather in worship
each week to share our love of God and by doing so we are
given the compassion to love others.
Worship is what really makes us a congregation of strangers
become a church of friends and servants. We believe
that over time, communion with God as revealed in Jesus Christ,
will enable each worshipper to share
and own the covenant of
our church, a covenant which calls us to go out into
the world to share the transforming love of Christ with all.
People often reflect upon
worship here at FCC of Clarkston as being warm and friendly,
simple yet dignified. The quality of music in its form,
flow and tempo all express the joy, grace and thankfulness
of our Lord. There is a liveliness
of spirit evident in the opening hymn to the quiet and peaceful
calm of the time of prayer in mid service to the sending hymn
and postlude calling us back to the world. The preaching
of the church flows from the Word of God, engaging the heart
and mind with a relevant message. It is our conviction
that we are the people of the Book (Bible) and through the
light and truth. The book of Acts tells us that the
first followers of Jesus, "devoted themselves to the
apostles' teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread
and prayers" (Acts 2:42) May it be said so of us
as well, and may you find a welcome here in worship through
the Spirit. Godspeed.
10:00 a.m. Sunday Morning - We try
to appeal to a broad range of musical tastes by using both
traditional hymns and contemporary worship songs. This
is a more traditional service with Holy Communion on the first
Sunday of every month.
